Rallye Sanremo. Today the race kick off
The first intense day of the three-day motor racing event in western Liguria kicks off with the 40th Sanremo Historic Rally and the 39th Coppa dei Fiori regularity race. The first to start is the five-time winner of the historic race, Lucio Da Zanche, in a Porsche 911 SCRS.
SANREMO (IM), 17 ottobre – Finally, we’re off. After completing the bureaucratic formalities yesterday, such as the sporting and technical checks (which continue today at the Old Railway station for the 72nd Rallye Sanremo and 15th Sanremo Leggenda) the 40th Sanremo Historic Rally and the 39th Coppa dei Fiori (regularity rally) are starting their engines with the departure of the two races from Pian di Nave next to the Fort of Santa Tecla (headquarter of the race, timing centre and press room) at 9.00 am. In the morning the rally and regularity cars will tackle the double pass on the special stages of Vignai (9.49 a.m. and 3.36 pm) Ghimbegna-San Romolo (10.23 a.m. and 4.14 p.m.), Coldirodi-Perinaldo (12.07 p.m. and 6.03 p.m.), Semoigo-Bajardo (12.51 pm and 6.42 pm), interspersed with a regrouping in Piazza Colombo (13.51pm) and two Service Parks in Porto Sole (2,21 pm and 4.59 pm), before returning to Piazza Colombo at 7.42 pm for the night’s rest. Tomorrow, the race will start again at 10:00 sharp. Forty crews from the 40th Sanremo Historic Rally and twenty-seven from the 39th Coppa dei Fiori will compete on the special stages. The first leg covers 261.11 km divided into eight special stages, for a total of 84.16 timed kilometers..
