37° Sanremo Rally Storico, Lucio Da Zanche cala la cinquina

SANREMO (IM), 15 ottobre – Proseguendo una tradizione che dura dall’anno 2001 (vittoria di Paolo Duberti-Lucia Dominoni) anche nell’edizione 2022 del Sanremo Rally Storico in pedana suona l’inno tricolore. La gara ligure, valida per il Campionato FIA Europeo Rally Storici e per il Campionato Italiano Rally Auto Storiche, è infatti vissuta sul duello fra le Porsche 911 Carrera RS di Lucio Da Zanche-Daniele De Luis e quella di Angelo Lombardo-Roberto Consiglio. Ben diverso l’atteggiamento dei due equipaggi alla partenza. Da Zanche, reduce da una stagione che lo ha visto al via in sole due altre gare, è partito con il dichiarato obiettivo di vincere il rally, consolidando il suo primato di vittorie, arrivato a quota cinque con il successo 2022, nobilitando una stagione che fino a questo momento gli aveva regalato poche soddisfazioni. Diverso l’atteggiamento di Angelo Lombardo, reduce da sei successi assoluti nelle sette precedenti gare cui ha partecipato nel 2022, già Campione Italiano di Secondo Raggruppamento, a cui bastava vedere il traguardo per conquistare anche il titolo tricolore assoluto, con l’obbligo quindi di disputare una gara cauta e accorta. Ma il sangue non è acqua, specie per un pilota siciliano e dopo le prime cinque speciali condotte con prudenza, occupando comunque la seconda piazza nella classifica assoluta, nell’ultima prova di venerdì, il mitico Langan di 19,5 chilometri, Lombardo ha messo in armadio ogni ritrosia ed è partito all’attacco segnando il miglior tempo.

A fine gara Da Zanche e Lombardo si sono divisi i successi in prova speciale, cinque al valtellinese e sei al siciliano, chiudendo il 37° Rallye Sanremo Storico con Lucio Da Zanche-Daniele De Luis, vincitori della gara, sul gradino più alto del podio e Angelo Lombardo-Roberto Consiglio secondi a 8”3, e campioni assoluti. A seguire nella classifica assoluta della gara chiude Oreste Pasetto con Michela Graziato su Porsche 911 SC di Secondo Raggruppamento che è riuscito a superare in volata, nella seconda parte, della gara il migliore degli stranieri Ville Silvasti con Risto Pietiläinen alle note della sua Lancia 037 Rally che ha badato più che altro a raccogliere punti per l’europeo consolidando così la sua leadership di Quarto Raggruppamento nel campionato continentale. A seguire altri due equipaggi italiani, formati da Ermanno Sordi-Maurizio Barone, Porsche 911 SC RS, quindi Enrico Volpato-Flavio Zanella, Ford Escort RS, che hanno preceduto il pilota locale Maurizio Pagella, con Francesco Zambelli sul sedile di destra della sua Porsche 911 SC. Dei 66 equipaggi che hanno preso il via venerdì mattina hanno concluso in 49.

La 36esima edizione delle Coppa dei Fiori di regolarità è andata agli elvetici Christian ed Elena Bonnet, su Alfa Romeo Giulietta TI del 1961, che hanno preceduto la Lancia Delta di Paolo Concari e Cristiano Androvandi che hanno preceduto di una sola penalità la Delta Integrale di Marco Gandino-Danilo Scarcella.

Una Targa per Amilcare. La premiazione del 37° Sanremo Rally Storico è stata preceduta dalla consegna di una targa ricordo ad Amilcare Ballestrieri e Arnaldo Bernacchini, in ricordo del loro successo nella decima edizione del Rallye Sanremo nel 1972; la loro Lancia Fulvia HF ha fatto bella mostra di sé sulla pedana d’arrivo posta davanti al Casino. A festeggiare Amilcare c’erano i suoi navigatori dell’epoca: oltre ad Arnaldo Bernacchini, sono stati immortalati nella foto ricordo Piero Sodano, Daniele Audetto, Silvio e Sergio Maiga, oltre a Gianni Tonti allora responsabile tecnico del team Lancia, Urbano Rattazzi, pilota FIAT dell’epoca, Renato Ronco, che in quei giorni raccontava le gesta dei rallisti e Claudio Berro, rallista e team manager negli anni immediatamente successivi al successo di Ballestrieri-Bernacchini.

SANREMO (IM), Oct. 14 – An Italian monologue in the first leg of the 37th Sanremo Historic Rally with Lucio Da Zanche, co-driven by Daniele De Luis in the Porsche Carrera RS of Fourth Group, who finished at the head of the first day of the West Ligurian Coast race, valid for the Italian Historic Car Rally Championship and European Historic Rally Championship, winning five of the six special stages on the program confirming his empathy for the Sanremo race, which he has won four other times in the past. Third place at 2’13″7 from the record for the Finns Villi Silvasti-Risto Pietiläinen, with the splendid Lancia 037 started with the number 1 on the specials, second force in the field for the first half of the race, then suffering the vehement comeback of Angelo Lombardo in the repetition of the tests. He was followed by a concrete Oreste Pasetto who shared his Porsche 911 SC with Michela Graziato just 14″8 from Villasti, then the Ford Escort RS of Enrico Volpato-Flavio Zanella and Ermanno Sordi-Maurizio Barone in the Porsche 911 SCR to close an all-Italian sextina.

In eighth place overall just 5″2 from the Ford Sierra Cosworth of Matts Myrsell-Esko Juntilla was the Porsche 911 of local driver Maurizio Pagella with Francesco Zambelli at the notes, who consistently traveled among the top 10 in the overall standings. Of the 64 crews that started at 8:30 a.m. this morning, 45 finished the first stage. Among those who retired were Enrico Brazzoli-Manuel Fenoli, who disastrously flipped their Porsche 911 SC in the San Bernardo di Conio turnaround of the first special stage. The race will restart Saturday, Oct. 15, at 8:15 a.m. and after five more special stages will return to San Remo to award all competitors who finished the rally at 2:30 p.m.

Fifty years have passed, but the victory of San Remo driver Amilcare Ballestrieri, flanked by Arnaldo Bernacchini in a Fulvia HF, has not been forgotten. Amilcare and Arnaldo will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, on the arrival platform of the Sanremo Rally Storico, and celebrating them will be Amilcare’s historic navigators, starting with Daniele Audetto, Silvio Maiga and Piero Sodano, as well as, of course, Sergio Maiga, current organizer of the Sanremo and Ballestrieri’s navigator in the first half of the 1970s.

The 2021 edition of the Sanremo Rally Storico was won by Lucio Da Zanche-Daniele De Luis, Porsche 911 SC RS, in 1.29’52″1 ahead of Matteo Musti-Claudio Biglieri (Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0, at 20″7) and Matteo Luise-Fabrizio Handel (Subaru Legacy 4WD, at 1’57″3).

SANREMO (IM), 13 October – Checks, done. Shakedown, done. The first day of the 37^th Sanremo Historic Rally and the concomitant 36^th Coppa dei Fiori regularity rally ended at 6 p.m., as the sun set in the waters of the Ligurian Sea with the completion of sporting and technical scrutineering in Sanremo’s Piazzale Adolfo Rava and the Shakedown on the tarmac of San Romolo, just above Sanremo.

No surprises in terms of those admitted to the race, with 66 of the 69 entries in the Historic Rally having duly verified and 22 of the 23 entered in the regularity event, and all the big names ready to go. So it will be the Finns Ville Silvasti and Risto Pietiläinen who will be the first to leave the platform of Corso Imperatrice in Sanremo, followed by the Austrians Mats Myrsell-Esko Juntila in their Ford Sierra Cosworth, the two crews who lead the European standings in their grouping. The first Italian driver to start will be Pietro Corredig from Friuli with his wife Sonia Borghese who will have the number 12 on the doors of their BMW 2002 Ti. Italian championship leader Angelo Lombardo with Roberto Consiglio at the pace notes in the Porsche 911 Carrera RS with number 18 is to be followed by the twin car of Lucio Da Zanche and Daniele De Luis, who holds the most victories at the Sanremo, with four overall wins. Also expected is local driver Maurizio Pagella co driven by Francesco Zambelli, who has the most participations in the Ligurian race with twenty-one participations.
